Company Description
TOMRA was founded in 1972, based on the design, manufacturing and sale of reverse vending machines (RVMs) for automated collection of used beverage containers. Today TOMRA provides solutions that enable the circular economy with advanced collection and sorting systems, and food processing by employing sensor-based sorting and grading technology.
The TOMRA Group employs over 5000 people globally and is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE: TOM). TOMRA was named Norway’s Most Innovative Business in 2023, number one in the list of the country’s top 25 companies.
TOMRA Collection is a leading innovator in the circular economy and Clean Loop Recycling. Founded on the invention of the world's first reverse vending machine, we are now responsible for approximately 80,000 installations across more than 60 markets. By providing an effective and efficient way of collecting, sorting and processing containers, TOMRA's reverse vending systems make it easy for consumers to recycle and contribute to a more sustainable planet.
At TOMRA, we want people to innovate, show passion in their work and be responsible. We encourage the freedom to innovate and take risks that result in breakthroughs that challenge the status quo. We value passion that focuses and commits to meeting success. We believe in a responsible and safe mindset that takes care of our customers, products, and fellow employees.
Job Description
As Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will be at the forefront of TOMRA’s mission to combine profitability with sustainability. This is a highly professional role focused on delivering value through strategic sourcing and category management.
You will play a pivotal role in developing and executing global category strategies, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects as Sourcing Lead, and acting as the cross-functional link between Purchasing, Engineering, TPS, Quality, Production sites, and other key functions.
Importantly, you’ll be joining us at a transformative moment: we are actively evolving our working routines to become increasingly strategic in our sourcing approach. This journey is ongoing, and we are seeking someone who not only embraces change but is eager to help drive it forward. You bring a proactive mindset, a collaborative spirit, and the patience to navigate a landscape where the ideal state is still being shaped. If you thrive in environments of growth and transition—and see opportunity where others see ambiguity—this role is for you.
Key Focus Areas:
- Strategic Global Category Management: Lead the development and implementation of global category strategies, conduct market analysis, identify and qualify suppliers, and manage global supplier negotiations and contracts.
- Global Team Leadership: This role will guide and coordinate a globally distributed Category team—starting with sourcing professionals in TCN (Xiamen, China) and TPAS (Lier, Norway)—to ensure strategic alignment and effective execution of category strategies across TOMRA’s international sourcing footprint.
- Project Sourcing Lead: Support internal projects (NPI) as the sourcing lead, ensuring alignment between cross-functional teams and driving sourcing excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the bridge between Purchasing, Engineering, TPS, Quality, and Production, ensuring sourcing strategies are aligned with business goals and operational needs.

- Acting as Sourcing Lead for NPI and strategic projects, collaborating with Project Managers, Product Managers, TPS, and cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, and Production.
- Recommending sourcing and production strategies, mentoring team members, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in a relevant technical or business field.
- 10+ years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, and category management.
- Extensive knowledge of contract and supplier management, including negotiation.
- Strong understanding of total cost of product and global sourcing practices.
