Our Internal Medicine Specialty Department has a full time opportunity available for a Veterinary Technician/Assistant. VCA California Veterinary Specialists here in Ontario is the largest 24 hours Emergency and Specialty hospital in the Inland Empire. For over a decade, we have provided exceptional veterinary service and patient care. We take pride in what we do and are looking for a motivated individual who is willing to work with a strong team of individuals in a fast paced environment. We are looking for someone who is proficient with the following skills:
- Strong client communication skills are a must: technicians obtain histories, present treatment plans, review discharge instructions and medications, and provide client education on more complex disease processes treated by Internal Medicine.
- Strong patient restraint and handling skills.
- Monitor and perform treatments for patients requiring intensive management, recognize significant changes in the patient’s condition, and notify the Doctor.
- Run in-house lab samples and handle submissions to outside laboratories.
- Experienced with venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Anesthetic induction (RVTs) and monitoring of sensitive and potentially critically ill patients for advanced diagnostic procedures (CT, endoscopy, bone marrow aspirates, joint taps, and more)
- Utilizing, specialized equipment and/or cleaning Storz and Olympus endoscopy equipment is a plus!
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Assist the Doctor with ongoing dynamics of a specific case, including call backs, prescription handling, medical records, etc.
- Experience in Internal Medicine is preferred but not required
This position is full-time Tuesday – Friday and 4/10 hour work week
Compensation: $20-$23/ hour Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.
