The Opportunity:
CACI is looking for an Early Career NASA Spaceflight Pyrotechnics Systems Test Director with mechanical and pyrotechnical experience to support spaceflight systems testing at Johnson Space Center. This engineering position involves managing and conducting tests on spaceflight hardware that will fly in future missions.
This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise, and be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner. The individual must share our passion for our Nation’s Space Program and share in the excitement of developing the next generation of human-rated space vehicles and flight hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Develop hardware test plans, procedures, hazard analyses, and schedules.
- Create cost and time estimates for tests.
- Integrate test equipment, as necessary, to accomplish desired test outcomes.
- Create and interpret drawings of test setups and review drawing changes.
- Participate in Test Readiness Reviews.
- Safely direct hazardous test operations to achieve test objectives.
- Manage test data and create reports based on the data.
- Provide timely status reports of progress.
This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to USG facilities.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or related field of study.
- Related work experience including internships as a Test Director.
- Knowledge of hardware development and quality-controlled operations.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
- Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
- Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.
- Experience conducting vibration and shock tests.
- Experience with high-speed laser measurement systems.
- Experience with Digital Image Correlation methods using high speed cameras.
Desired:
- M.S. in Mechanical or Explosives Engineering.
- Experience with Graphite, Creo, or other 3D drawing software.
- Experience writing, reviewing, and executing engineering orders or Test Preparation Sheets.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
