The Opportunity
This role offers a strategic leadership opportunity within Abbott Nutrition’s Global Procurement team, responsible for managing over $250MM in production materials across 60+ suppliers. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the position focuses on ensuring supply continuity, driving cost efficiencies, and leading ingredient innovation in collaboration with commercial and R&D teams. The successful candidate will lead a small team and play a key role in shaping procurement strategies that directly impact Abbott’s global operations and profitability.
What You’ll Work On
- Develop and execute global supply strategies using market and supplier data analysis
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients at or below market cost
- Optimize raw material sourcing and procurement processes
- Support manufacturing operations across North America, Europe, Asia, and TPMs
- Standardize contracts across global commodities
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships worldwide
- Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, QA, and other internal teams on supplier selection and management
- Manage financial plans and purchasing commitments up to $250MM
- Lead cost savings and avoidance initiatives across the division
- Coach and mentor cross-functional teams to align with Abbott Nutrition’s vision
- Monitor and improve performance metrics such as PPV, supplier quality, inventory levels, and delivery performance
- Assess market trends and risks to support strategic decision-making
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Management, Business, Operations, Finance, or a technical field
- 4–6 years of combined experience in operations or supply chain management
- Minimum 3 years of purchasing and/or sourcing experience
- 2–4 years of staff management and development experience
- Strong skills in supplier negotiations, financial analysis, planning, and leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of regulatory standards for infant formula and nutritionals
Preferred Qualifications
Mba
- Experience in purchasing, sourcing, or trading commodities
Apics Certification
- International experience or willingness to travel globally
