We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with strong payer Utilization Management (UM) expertise to support training and quality. This role ensures all training and quality programs are aligned with client expectations, CMS/Medicare/Medicaid requirements, URAC/NCQA standards, and evidence-based clinical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Delivery & Oversight
- Facilitate new hire UM nurse training (Foundation, Process, OJT) and oversee clinical rounds to strengthen judgment, accuracy, and UM criteria use.
- Audit and coach during OJT to improve process application, documentation quality, and case review skills.
- Develop and update training modules, case studies, and assessments in line with payer, CMS, URAC, and NCQA standards.
- Facilitate refresher and upskilling sessions to address performance gaps and reinforce process changes.
Auditing & Quality Assurance
- When not training, perform quality audits across assigned segments, meeting audit counts and handle time requirements.
- Track quality metrics, recommend interventions, and share targeted feedback.
- Lead and participate in calibrations to ensure consistent case review interpretations and maintain inter-rater reliability.
Collaboration & Support
- Partner with Clinical Operations and client teams to align training and quality with business goals.
- Support process improvements, quality initiatives, and best-practice sharing.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all activities comply with HIPAA, URAC, NCQA, CMS, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines.
- Stay current on payer UM processes and specialty review areas.
Education:
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Active, unrestricted RN license in the United States.
Experience:
Required:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute, post-acute, or community care setting.
- With 1-2 years of Utilization Management (UM) experience (e.g., prior authorization, concurrent review, medical necessity review, appeals).
- Working knowledge of CMS Medicare/Medicaid guidelines and/or Massachusetts state-specific coverage criteria.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and at least one virtual training platform (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams).
- Strong communication and facilitation skills for adult learners.
Preferred:
- UM experience specific to home health or inpatient reviews (InterQual, MCG).
- Familiarity with CCA-specific UM workflows and documentation requirements.
- Exposure to URAC or NCQA accreditation standards.
- Experience mentoring, onboarding, or coaching nurses in UM review.
Skills:
- Ensure all training and audits comply with HIPAA, URAC, NCQA, CMS, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer UM processes and specialty review areas such as home healthcare, inpatient care, and outpatient procedures.
