Job Summary:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating and supervising the programs for safety, acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, fueling, replacement and disposal of all Geisinger owned and leased fleet vehicles. Fleet Manager also serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations.

Job Duties:

  • Provides matrixed supervision, typically to professionals or skilled technical employees at the entry or intermediate level.
  • Functions as advisor to drivers, departments owning, leasing, or operating vehicles and Administration.
  • Sets goals and objectives for team members for the achievement of operational results.
  • Interprets policies (e.g., Fleet Vehicle Use, Safety and Purchasing, Business Travel and Expense, fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrate solid subject matter knowledge.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
  • Supervises staff to ensure accountability and stewardship of system resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.    
  • Fleet Manager is responsible for deciding whether a vehicle meets environmental standards, interpreting fleet vehicle policy with other leaders to optimize the fleet and manage risk
  • Develops and administers vehicle/equipment asset management processes from procurement to disposition.
  • Create vehicle purchase specifications and purchase vehicles for all Geisinger departments.
  • Establish and monitor purchasing, operational and replacement strategies and practices for most cost-effective operations.
  • Leads or supports investigations related to vehicle events with Risk Management, Corporate Insurance, Privacy Office, Legal, and Human Resources
  • Develop and implement training modules for vehicle and equipment use and care.
  • Provides comprehensive oversight for the Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) fueling station, fleet fuel card program and reducing the Fleet’s carbon footprint and environmental impact.
  • Responsible for all aspects of fleet maintenance not self-performed by Geisinger staff Coordinates with GMC auto shop operations manager for self-performed fleet maintenance and repair scheduling.
  • Ensure unit compliance with all Federal, State & Local laws and regulations related to vehicle repair shop operations and vehicle and mobile equipment use and care
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Details:

Certified Fleet Manager (FMC) certification preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree- (Required)

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years-Related work experience (Required), Minimum of 1 year-GPS Tracking Technology (Required)

Certification(S) And License(S):

Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) - Fleet Management Association (NAFA), Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) - American Public Works Associate (APWA)
