We're Hiring: Senior Mental Health Practitioner (Locum 3-Month Contract)

Are you an experienced mental health professional with strong leadership and clinical expertise? We're seeking a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our dynamic team full-time for 3 months to support the team at headspace Mount Isa.

What Is The Opportunity?

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing mental health services, physical and sexual health services, alcohol and drug services, social welfare and vocational services to all young people aged 12-25 years to develop and keep the skills and confidence to live healthy and happy lives.

headspace Mount Isa is managed by Gidgee Healing. Gidgee provides a wide range of primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the region, including GPs, Nursing; Aboriginal Health Workers / Aboriginal Health Practitioners; Allied Health professionals; Maternal and Child Health; Family wellbeing service and visiting Medical Specialists.

What You'Ll Do:

• Guide an existing clinical team, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based mental health care.
• Provide direct clinical supervision to an existing clinical team.
• Improve clinical governance, case reviews, and quality improvement processes.
• Impart senior clinical experience and guidance to early career practitioners.
• Drive innovative and culturally responsive mental health initiatives.

Who You Are:

• An experienced senior clinician with expertise in mental health care (CBT, ACT, SEWB, and more).
• A confident leader with a commitment to quality and safety standards.
• Skilled at building relationships and fostering team growth.

Essential Criteria:

• Tertiary qualification in Mental Health (Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing) with 10+ years of experience.
• Registration with AHPRA or AASW as a Mental Health professional.

• Board-Approved Supervisor.

• Experience of delivering mental health services to young people.
• Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating care for young people with complex needs.
• Eligibility for a Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
