This limited time employment position is available in the Marathon County Social Services Department.  This individual will work in a team environment as a member of the financial services team, providing support for various department units with duties including data entry, billing, and accounting functions.  The successful candidate will be dependable, flexible, well organized, detail-oriented and customer-focused.  An individual with excellent oral and written communication skills, solid interpersonal skills, and strong computer skills is required. The work schedule is 40 hours per week, and hours of work are 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a half hour unpaid lunch.   After a training period, a blended schedule of in-office and remote work may be approved.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in accounting and one (1) year experience working with financial records as a major part of job duties; OR high school graduation or its equivalent, supplemented by formal course work in accounting, and five (5) years’ experience working with financial records as a major part of job duties.  Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Examples Of Work Performed:

  • Performs significant amounts of data entry (up to 75% of workload) including entering data to create Individual Service Plans and Service Authorizations for Children’s Long Term Support clients.
  • Prepares monthly claims for Children’s Long Term Support case management and other services to the Third Party Administrator; reviews claim for accuracy and completeness; performs necessary follow up duties to ensure all payments are received.
  • Processes and remediates claim denials received from the Third Party Administrator.
  • Places one-time and recurring orders for items for clients enrolled in the Children’s Long Term Support Program.
  • Assesses parental fee financial liability for the Children’s Long Term Support program according to State guidelines.
  • Processes billings to families for parental fee liability and processes payments received for billings.
  • Interacts with case workers, service providers, Third Party Administrator, and State agencies.
  • In collaboration with City-County IT Department and the TCM Multi-County Group, maintains software utilized for the processing of Children’s Long Term Support Individual Service Plans and Service Authorizations and ensures that the software is in compliance with State of Wisconsin requirements.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance and performs related work as required.
  • Other assigned responsibilities may include:  preparing daily deposits, issuing gift cards, tracking financial records, entering data for accounts payable, responding to inquiries about financial information, and maintaining files and documents.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Ability to work with numbers rapidly and accurately and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to perform data entry into computer applications quickly and with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to learn Children’s Long Term Support program rules and apply them to unique situations
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.
  • Ability to problem solve and find errors by backtracking logically through records
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and customers.
  • Skills to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork.
