About Your Future Role
This is a global role within the Nexi Group, operating remotely across virtual teams with hubs in Milan and Athens. As a Service Operations Engineer, you’ll be responsible for configuring and evolving middleware and application components, with a strong emphasis on process automation. You’ll also provide technical guidance to developers, testers, and business analysts.
Your key responsibilities in this role will be:
- Evaluate change and project initiatives, ensuring alignment with non-functional requirements
- Participate in release management and production committee reviews; support deployment phases
- Lead incident management and initiate escalation procedures when needed
- Plan and size IT resources to meet future business volume demands
- Monitor system availability and review SLA performance
- Manage handover from project development to live service operations
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical issues proactively

- Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years of experience in application engineering, system administration, or similar roles
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix Shell, Apache, JBoss, Tomcat, and relational databases (Oracle/MySQL)
- Programming experience in Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, or JavaScript
- Familiarity with distributed platforms (Kafka, Redis) and resource management frameworks
- Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Bonus Skills:
- Proven success in technical engineering roles
- Experience with asynchronous collaboration and documentation best practices
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code beyond basic scripting
