Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Pulmonary and Critical Care specialist with expertise in lung transplantation to join our growing and highly regarded program. VUMC performed 99 lung transplants in 2024 and is one of the most innovative lung transplant centers in the nation, consistently achieving excellent outcomes and maintaining some of the shortest waiting times in the U.S.
This exciting opportunity involves both inpatient and outpatient duties, with support from a dynamic team of Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). We are looking for a passionate physician committed to advancing the field of lung transplantation and providing exceptional care to patients with advanced pulmonary diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care for patients with advanced lung diseases and those undergoing lung transplantation.
- Lead and participate in the lung transplant program, ensuring high-quality care and excellent patient outcomes.
- Manage both inpatient and outpatient cases, including consultations, follow-ups, and post-transplant care.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including other pulmonologists, transplant surgeons, and APPs, to provide a patient-centered approach to care.
- Actively contribute to the educational and research missions of the division, including training medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Participate in cutting-edge research and clinical trials aimed at improving lung transplantation outcomes and advancing pulmonary medicine.
Qualifications
- BC/BE in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care
- Expertise in lung transplantation is essential. Experience with ECMO and advanced therapies for pulmonary diseases is highly desirable.
- This position offers an academic appointment, providing opportunities for teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A passion for providing high-quality, patient-centered care and contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge in the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine.
