Description

The University of Texas at Austin Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) invites applications for a non-tenure, professional track faculty position to teach undergraduate courses in Computer-Aided Design and Graphics. Based on current course loads, the position is intended to be full-time, benefits-eligible, for the fall and spring long semesters. Successful candidates will be expected to teach the undergraduate course ARE 217 ‘Computer-Aided Design and Graphics’ to undergraduate students in the CAEE department. In this course, students develop skills in visual design communication and are introduced to various types of drawings, including orthographic projections, axonometric views, and two- and three-dimensional perspectives. The course prepares students to explore design thinking and develop engineering-design drawings by using computer-aided drafting and design tools such as AutoCAD, Rhino and Revit, among others.  All students in Civil, Architectural and Environmental programs are required to take this course (typically in year 1 or year 2).

The CAEE department has over 68 faculty members (including 12 professional track adjunct faculty members) and is currently ranked amongst the top ten graduate and undergraduate programs in both civil and environmental engineering by US News and World Report.

Qualifications

A Master's degree, or higher, in disciplines associated with computer-aided design and graphics is required, such as Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or related field.  Possible, but not required, would be a record of teaching excellence and professional experience related to the subject of instruction.
