Part Time

This is a remote position.

We’re seeking a hands-on Odoo specialist to independently run discovery, configuration, and custom development to transition our business workflows into Odoo. You’ll turn real-world processes into maintainable Odoo solutions, handle data migration, training, and go-live, and set us up for smooth version upgrades with customisations, robust dashboards/visual reporting, and a well-governed third-party app ecosystem.
Target go-live: end of the current financial year
Engagement: flexible (full-time, part-time)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Brisbane time

Key Responsibilities
Discovery & Design
  • Map and document current workflows and pain points; translate them into Odoo use cases.
  • Produce a phased implementation plan (configuration vs. custom; MVP vs. later phases).
Configuration & Development
  • Configure Odoo objects, permissions, approvals, activities, and mail templates.
  • Build/extend via Python/ORM, QWeb, server actions, wizards, and scheduled jobs.
  • Deliver dashboards and visual reporting for operational and leadership KPIs.
Upgrades & App Ecosystem
  • Plan and execute Odoo version updates with existing customisations (refactor, test, migrate, rollback).
  • Evaluate, install, and maintain third-party/OCA apps (compatibility, licensing, security).
  • Use Git workflows (and optionally CI/CD); uphold coding standards and code reviews.
Deployment & Change
  • Own data migration, UAT, cutover, and hyper-care; manage an issue log/backlog.
  • Create technical and user documentation; deliver training and adoption support.
Quality & Reliability
  • Implement automated tests where practical; monitor logs and performance.
  • Optimise queries and indexes; maintain backup/restore and recovery procedures.
Collaboration & Delivery
  • Work directly with operational stakeholders to gather requirements and validate outcomes.
  • Estimate effort, manage timelines, and communicate progress/risks clearly.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years Odoo development/implementation experience with end-to-end delivery.
  • Strong Python, PostgreSQL, XML, and JavaScript; solid Odoo ORM/QWeb skills.
  • Proven track record creating custom modules, reports, and dashboards.
  • Hands-on version upgrade experience with custom code preserved/refactored.
  • Comfortable with Git and agile ways of working; excellent communication and problem-solving.
  • Experience with Odoo 18 (or 17+ with readiness to maintain on v18).

Nice to Have
  • Experience implementing Odoo in service/operations environments.
  • Odoo Enterprise exposure; multi-company/multi-currency familiarity.
  • API integration experience (for future phases).
  • BI exposure (Power BI/Tableau) alongside native Odoo analytics.
  • Linux/Docker basics for deployment and troubleshooting.
  • ANZ localisation familiarity (e.g., GST) is a plus.
