The STO (Superannuation Trustee Office) advises and supports the Trustee Board in strategic planning, governance and managing outsourced arrangements, including those within the AMP Group. It also handles risk management, regulatory engagement, and identity. The STO collaborates closely with AMP Group units that manage daily operations and corporate support functions.

As Head of Product, Investments & Insurance, you’ll play a senior and critical role within the STO, leading strategic oversight of superannuation products, investments and insurance. You’ll be responsible for ensuring member-focused outcomes and alignment with the Trustee’s strategic, commercial and regulatory priorities. This includes managing performance and risk escalations, overseeing key arrangements and driving continuous improvement across product, investment and insurance operations.

This is a high-impact leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, exceptional governance capability and outstanding stakeholder influence. You’ll work closely with senior executives, AMP business teams and external providers to ensure effective delivery and oversight. Your ability to simplify complexity, lead with integrity and proactively shape outcomes will be essential to supporting the Trustee’s purpose and enhancing member value.

More Specifically

  • Providing strategic and commercial advice to support the Trustee’s obligations and member strategy
  • Overseeing product, investment and insurance performance, including risk escalations and breach management
  • Supporting implementation and maintenance of the Trustee Board’s governance model
  • Managing outsourcing arrangements and ensuring service delivery meets strategic, regulatory and commercial requirements
  • Driving continuous improvement and a high-performance culture across internal and external arrangements
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and managing conflicts of interest related to product, investment and insurance
  • Engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, including executives, regulators and Board members
  • Representing the Trustee Office with professionalism and contributing to leadership team effectiveness

How will you make an impact

  • Drive strategic outcomes aligned to the Trustee’s Member and Beneficiaries Strategy 
  • Monitor performance against member outcome metrics 
  • Provide market insights to support Board decisions 
  • Oversee service delivery and ensure SLAs are met 
  • Manage contractual arrangements with service providers 
  • Review reporting on performance, incidents and breaches 
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments 
  • Engage external consultants for benchmarking and analysis 
  • Present updates to the Board on product, investment and insurance matters 
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external experts to support decision-making

What You Will Bring to the Role

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Proven track record at a senior management level in a financial services environment
  • Deep expertise in superannuation products, investments and insurance, with exceptional understanding of fund governance
  • Outstanding operational risk management capability and knowledge of trustee obligations
  • Experience building trusted relationships with senior executives and Board members

Your Profile

You’ll have a proven ability to lead high-quality programs of work, leveraging internal and external expertise, and applying sound risk management practices. Exceptional stakeholder engagement is essential where you’ll confidently influence senior executives and Board members, consult constructively and maintain trusted relationships across AMP and with external parties.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are key, including the ability to simplify complexity, present with impact and represent the Trustee externally when required. You’ll also demonstrate high emotional intelligence, resilience, and a collaborative, service-oriented mindset.

As a people leader, you’ll coach and develop a small, collaborative team, fostering technical excellence and a culture of continuous learning. Your ability to lead with integrity, challenge thoughtfully and drive improvement will be key to your success in this role
