The Microsoft Azure Storage team is seeking a Principal Software Engineering Manager - Azure Storage to lead a team of talented engineers focused on improving service quality, chaos engineering, resiliency, and validation infrastructure. We are looking for a talented principal software engineering manager who is customer-obsessed and passionate about creating high-quality end-to-end experiences that delight customers. Responsibilities

  • Lead team to design, develop, and operate scalable, low latency and high throughput cloud services and frameworks to stress the storage backend and surface resiliency concerns.
  • Play a crucial role in product quality by overseeing end-to-end customer scenario validation work performed by team members.
  • Streamline release qualification process and lead efforts to fully automate the release pipeline with a relentless focus on CI/CD.
  • Take an active role and partner with peer teams and external partners to ensure new storage features meet target availability, security, and reliability goals, with an emphasis on quality upstream.
  • Drive quality initiatives to streamline release quality gates and release pipeline.
  • Support, mentor, and help engineers grow to build an inclusive team environment where everyone can deliver their best work.
  • Guides team and acts as an expert for Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitors other engineers across product lines, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
  • Leads product development and scaling to customer requirements and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and holds accountability for products that do not meet expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years  technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • 2+ years of experience in testing systems at a large scale with various testing techniques including unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, fault injection, performance testing, scale testing, and long-haul testing.
  • OR equivalent experience. 
Other Qualifications: 
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science 
  • 4+ years of people management experience.
  • 6+ years of experience of QA life cycle, methodologies, and best practices.
  • 4+ years of proficiency planning, scheduling and delivering quality software.
  • OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, and JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years  technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to,C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
