Geseron Employment Consulting (GEC) Ltd. is seeking a compassionate and skilled Digital Literacy Instructor to support clients undergoing vocational rehabilitation. This position is ideal for someone with a background in helping individuals through life transitions and a strong grasp of Microsoft Office applications.
As a Digital Literacy Instructor, youll empower clients to build the essential digital skills they need to thrive in todays workforce. Youll also provide meaningful emotional support as they navigate the challenges of personal and professional reintegration.
Job Responsibilities
Digital Literacy Training:
- Manage incoming client referrals
- Contact clients via telephone to schedule appointments
- Deliver one-on-one, virtual digital literacy training programs tailored to the needs and skill levels of clients.
- Provide comprehensive instruction on Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Individualized Support:
- Conduct assessments to identify the digital literacy skills of individual clients.
- Tailor instruction to meet the individual needs and learning styles of clients.
Emotional Support:
- Foster a supportive and empathetic learning environment for clients navigating vocational rehabilitation.
- Address emotional and psychological challenges that may arise during skills development and workforce re-entry
Progress Monitoring:
- Track and document client progress in both digital literacy skills and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to adjust strategies based on individual needs.
Collaboration:
- Attend team meetings as required.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Proactive, empathetic, and motivational approach to working with clients, including identifying and solving problems.
- Understanding of mental health barriers faced by individuals who may have experienced trauma.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit various learning styles and digital literacy levels.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to balance the demands of one-on-one instruction with multiple learners.
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven, with the ability to follow established processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Reliable and consistent, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dedicated, distraction-free private workspace.
- Computer or laptop with up-to-date antivirus software.
- High-speed internet connection.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Criminal record check.
Qualifications
Education:
- Diploma or degree in a related helping profession such as Social Work, Social Service Work, Teaching, Educational Assistance, Mental Health Worker, etc.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a digital literacy instructor or in a similar instructional role.
- Familiarity with vocational rehabilitation processes and challenges.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (or ability to self-teach).
- Ability to adapt to emerging digital tools and technologies.
Languages
- English is mandatory.
- French is considered a strong asset.
Wages
- $19.00 - $23.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
