The Director of National Accounts – Supply Chain partners closely with large national retailers (e.g., Home Depot, Lowe’s) to optimize inventory performance, drive program launches, manage store expansions, and lead SKU rationalization initiatives. This leader represents the Supply Chain team in monthly national account meetings and quarterly onsite retailer reviews, ensuring seamless collaboration between retailer merchants, inventory teams, planners, and executive leadership. With a portfolio exceeding 100,000 SKUs, this role champions in-stock excellence, compliance adherence (OTIF, fill rate), and continuous improvement across demand and supply planning functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary Supply Chain liaison to national retailer merchants, inventory planners, and executive leadership.
- Drive and track in-stock performance, setting targets and partnering with planning teams to close gaps.
- Lead program and project launches, from new product introductions to retail-initiated promotions and seasonal resets.
- Integrate innovative proactive processes with national accounts that drives partnership efficiencies
- Facilitate store expansion rollouts, coordinating cross-functional teams to meet retailer timelines and volume commitments.
- Implement SKU rationalization strategies to optimize portfolio health, reduce complexity, and improve turnover metrics.
- Monitor retailer compliance metrics (OTIF, fill rate, project milestone adherence), investigate fines/penalties, and develop corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with Demand Planning and Supply Planning teams to align forecasts, capacity, and replenishment strategies against national account requirements.
- Represent Supply Chain at monthly National Account meetings, presenting performance dashboards and action plans.
- Lead quarterly onsite review meetings with Home Depot, Lowe’s, and other key customers, driving executive alignment and strategic roadmap discussions.
- Analyze sales trends, inventory aging, and service levels to identify risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- POS Metrics analysis – sell through, stock health, category & SKU performance
Qualifications
Requirement Details
Education Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
Experience 10+ years in supply chain or national account management within building materials or CPG
Industry
Knowledge Deep understanding of building materials distribution, retailer operations, and compliance KPIs
Analytical Skills Expertise with advanced analytics tools (e.g., Excel, BI dashboards)
Communication Exceptional written and verbal skills; executive-level presentation experience
Leadership Proven track record leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders
Travel Up to 30% of domestic travel for retailer meetings and onsite reviews
