Wood is currently recruiting expressions of interest for a Construction Manager with extensive experience in managing complex construction projects ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This opportunity is On-site at various locations throughout the USA. Projects are generally in excess of 12 months each. The Construction Manager will manage and control construction cost and schedule and oversee the planning, execution, and completion projects. This role requires extensive experience leading teams and collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables
- Supervises all areas on small projects and / or a subset / discipline on larger projects
- Responsible for management and execution of multiple field disciplines or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and in accordance with the company’s operating policies and principles.
- Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project.
- Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned disciplines / subset of on site construction.
- Management of installation, commissioning and completion activities of materials and equipment.
- Coordinates field personnel work schedules to maximize utilization and ensure work is delivered on schedule
- Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.
- Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control
- Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions.
- Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements.
- Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on site construction. Utilize Commercial processes to capture variations effectively
- Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, accommodation and other project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract document specifications and in accordance with Wood Policies & Procedures.
- Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required.
- Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability.
- Provides the interface and maintains effective relationships with other contributors to the project.
- Manage relationships with external suppliers and sub-contractors and resolves cost, schedule and quality issues
- May act as company representative and play a role in contract negotiations.
- Typically minimum qualified to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma / apprenticeship) or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
- Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 20 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant industry
- Experience in Pipelines and/or Oil Fields/Well Heads is highly deseriable, and/or Industrial construction projects including Chemical Plants, Refining, and Power Plants.
- Able to establish and maintain a positive and effective customer relationship, ensuring payment terms are met, and communicating any delays.
- Well organized, observant, good interpersonal and communication skills
- Display both good judgment and leadership qualities
- Ability to work with timelines/targets.
- Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required.
- Excellent interpersonal organizational, communication and team building skills.
