This position is a member of our North Central & West Texas Division.

Here’S What You’Ll Be Doing

  • Perform routine technical work in the field of air, water, or waste pollution for the Dallas/ Fort Worth Regional Office of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Conduct environmental regulatory inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports which document field activities, observed on-site conditions, and any regulatory violations. Notify regulated entities of the investigation findings and provide guidance on corrective actions for noncompliance.
  • Provide technical assistance to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application appropriate regulations.
  • Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental activities.
  • Experience writing technical or research papers.
 

Qualifications

 

Required Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field.

Or

Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Current Tceq Employees

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist II-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator II-IV series.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Dallas-Fort Worth Region Office.
