ODOT Master Mechanic (Mahoning County), PN 20055184
Located at: Mahoning County Maintenance Facility, 401 West Main Street, Canfield, OH 44406
What You Will Do:
- Performs major overhauls of gasoline &/or diesel engines
- Repairs, rebuilds, and/or replaces minor & major parts
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, replaces &/or repairs electronic systems
- Identifies, troubleshoots, repairs & calibrates hydraulic system control units

Qualifications
48 mos. exp. in repair & maintenance of variety of vehicles &/or agency-identified equipment; valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
-Or 24 months exp. as ODOT Mechanic, 52152; valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above, except for mandated licensure. Note: The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment, per section 3719.01 & 3719.41 of Ohio revised code. Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one year probationary period; This position is overtime eligible per FLSA Standards; If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.
Training and Development Required to Remain in the Classification After Employment: Must obtain & maintain Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction regulated by Section 4506 of the Ohio Revised Code during probationary period. Unusual Working Conditions: May be exposed to dirt, loud noise, grease, dust, fuel fumes & other unpleasant conditions; may work outside exposed to unpleasant weather conditions; may be on call 24 hrs./day, 7 days/week.
All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment. This position is also subject to federal testing regulations pursuant to 49 CFR Part 40 (Federal Drug and Alcohol Regulations) and 49 CFR Part 382 (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) which prohibits the use of marijuana, including medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test for final applicants in this position.
