The urology technician is an individual who, through didactic and supervised practice, has acquired the knowledge and developed the skills necessary for providing urinary catheterizations, urinary drainage tube irrigations, ultrasonic bladder scanning, and reinforcement of home-going education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations. The urology technician is responsible for responding to calls on the patient care units, the emergency department and surgery.

  • High school diploma or successful completion of GED. 
  • Hospital medical background preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable fluctuations in workload volume. 
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills. Knowledge of aseptic techniques. 
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross and must be valid for 90 days of start date.
