Bell Labs Intern - Multi-path application for service continuum

As a Bell Labs intern, you will design and develop a multi-path application for service continuum suitable for next-generation network architecture. This application will not only facilitate multi-path delivery over available access networks but also enable service continuum across servers. Specifically, this application will leverage the Prague library, which was developed by Bell Labs, to implement low-latency congestion control and integrate with the general-purpose transport layer protocol (such as QUIC). Ultimately, it offers an application-centric approach to reshaping the symbiosis between network and application. What distinguishes this role is the opportunity to work on both the application design and network infrastructure, getting a thorough grasp of their interactions.

You Will:

• Collaborate with team members to design and implement innovative traffic control APIs for congestion control and multipathing.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of congestion control algorithms to ensure decent user experience and low latency.
• Gain hands-on experience with real-world applications and network infrastructure.
• Enjoy a flexible work environment that fosters collaboration and supports a balanced work-life integration. 

You Have/Are:

• Good understanding of congestion control algorithms
• Proficiency in programming languages (C/C++, Shell script, Python)
• Strong knowledge of transport protocols (TCP, QUIC)
• Professional in English with excellent communication skills
• Capable of working effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.

It would be nice if you also had:

• Understanding of network layers
• Experience analyzing network traffic (Wireshark, Tcpdump)
• Basic knowledge of access networks (Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, PON)
