Raytheon is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our dynamic team of EHS professionals.
As an EHS Specialist you’ll support our ongoing compliance, sustainability and risk reduction efforts at the Portsmouth, RI site. In this role, you will have an opportunity to work with site manufacturing, engineering and support teams to foster employee engagement, integrate EHS requirements, drive risk reduction and impact continuous improvement of all EHS programs.
Additional Responsibilities Will Include:
- Recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazardous workplace conditions and taking proactive steps to influence safe behaviors and ensure the safety and health of site employees
- Becoming known as a site resource through employee interactions and learning the tasks employees perform
- Building partnerships and influencing across assigned areas to provide actionable improvement programs
- Working with subject matter experts to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company EHS requirements
- Investigating, analyzing and interpreting data from injuries and near-misses, and ensuring corrective actions are completed on time and are properly documented
- Supporting site’s environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste management, stormwater pollution prevention, air quality, wastewater and toxic chemical management
- Assisting in the development and implementation of sustainability practices and programs in alignment with business long-term goals
This role requires limited travel for participation in company seminars, EHS audits and training opportunities
This job is posted as ONSITE, and is based at Raytheon’s Portsmouth, RI facility.
What You Will Learn:
- Become a leader in taking Raytheon to the next level of sustainable manufacturing, green factories and waste elimination
- Learn to operate in a fast-paced matrixed corporate and manufacturing environment
- Become knowledgeable regarding environmental compliance challenges inherent in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications You Must Have:
- A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Industrial hygiene and/or safety experience
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience managing EH&S issues in a union work environment
- Experience with EH&S issues in a complex matrixed corporate and manufacturing environment
- Work experience at an OSHA VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) site
- Project management and execution skills
- Professional EHS Certification (e.g. ASP, CSP, CIH)
- Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills and the ability to work independently with limited oversight and in a team setting
- Strong computer skills, including use of the Microsoft Office Suite
