What You’Ll Do

Property & Planning Expertise

  • Understanding of property, environmental planning, civil design, and construction methods
  • Sound knowledge of property acquisition, planning, regulatory requirements, and site sharing

Legislation & Compliance

  • Extensive knowledge of Federal/State legislation and guidelines
  • Understanding of mobile network legislation and EME (Electromagnetic Energy) legislation
  • Knowledge of appeal rights and experience in managing appeals

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Ability to manage various stakeholders
  • Maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to negotiate with landowners and implement Telstra’s leasing/licensing policies

Project & Process Management

  • Ability to develop project scopes and manage projects within time and budget
  • Planning activities culminating in a Project Management Plan
  • Monitoring project milestones and evaluating progress
  • Reporting on project deliverables against the plan
  • Strong process design and governance skills

Technical & Organizational Knowledge

  • High level of technical expertise relevant to the WPO program of work
  • Awareness of Telstra’s processes and specific knowledge of key business functions

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Taking reasonable care for safety
  • Complying with Telstra HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) instructions

What You’Ll Bring

  • Expertise in Site Acquisition: Deep understanding of property, environmental planning, civil design & construction methods, and the Mobile Network.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven experience in managing stakeholders.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Federal/State legislation and guidelines, including the Telecommunications Act 1997, Telecommunications (Low-impact Facilities) Determination 2018, the 2025 Mobile Phone Base Station Deployment Code, and State Environmental Planning Policy (Transport and Infrastructure) 2021 (TISEPP)
  • Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication, collaboration, and strategic problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience in community consultation and dispute resolution.
  • Consensus Building: Ability to drive consensus among stakeholders, including customers and vendors.

Highly Desirable

  • Initiative and Leadership: Demonstrated initiative, drive, and ability to work autonomously and lead in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to understand, summarize, and explain issues and devise practical solutions.
