Experience in field service on Varian linear accelerators (TrueBeam, iX, et.al.) and other modalities (Cath Lab, Interventional, XRay, CT sims) preferred.
Pay Range
$43.30 - $64.95Major Responsibilities:
- Analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment and systems utilizing established electronic test and measurement equipment and techniques. Service support will be provided to multiple Advocate Healthcare facilities and may span one or more patient service areas.
- Installs, calibrates and tests highly complex new imaging equipment and/or systems. Responsibilities may include work on a mix of Biomedical and Diagnostic Imaging equipment, but majority of work will be related to complex Diagnostic Imaging equipment.
- Performs any required advanced service on imaging equipment and systems, in accordance with corporate and department procedures, manufacturers recommendations, physicists’ specifications and/or other applicable codes, standards, accreditation requirements, and state and federal regulations as applicable regarding radiographic and diagnostic imaging equipment.
- Interacts with clinical staff across multiple assigned sites and/or PSAs on a regular basis to ensure needs are being met. Provides advanced technical support and assistance to imaging staff in their use of highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic Imaging devices. Is considered a subject matter expert on one or more complex modalities. Installs or assists in the installation of new imaging equipment, tubes, transformers, etc. Assists in the training of imaging staff on the safe and proper use of equipment. Interacts with manufacturer's representatives to obtain the necessary technical product information.
- Participates in new equipment evaluation and RFP/RFI development across one or more sites or PSAs. Documents and maintains accurate records of all inspections, repairs, adjustments, etc. performed on all equipment performed by self or a vendor.
- Assists in training Biomedical Equipment Tech's to provide first call on imaging equipment and may train Imaging technicians on inspection and repairs for imaging equipment.
- Coordinates special projects by defining scope of work, identifying resources both technical and financial and provides technical direction to staff and communicates project status for one or more assigned sites and across one or more PSA's.
- As applicable, coordinates and communicates with a radiation physicist as part of equipment quality assurance testing, calibration, and disposal for site licensing needs with the State department of public health. May assist imaging staff in the selection process for new equipment purchases and installations, may assist with service contract negotiations. This may include site visits and/or meetings with equipment manufacturers.
- Makes recommendations for capital equipment replacements to Clinical Engineering Leadership at the site and system level. Escalates situations or questions beyond their scope of knowledge or responsibility to appropriate staff. Communicates routinely with supervisory personnel on the status of equipment repair and maintenance activities along with immediately reporting all patient/equipment operator safety issues.
- Requests/orders necessary repair and spare parts according to established procedures and contract relationships. Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to Imaging equipment maintenance and use. Assists in research projects and/or new Imaging equipment evaluations.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required: None.
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience Required: Typically requires seven or more years of experience in biomedical imaging supporting multiple classes of diagnostic imaging equipment, which includes digital imaging technology, and networking technology.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office or similar products (primarily Word and Excel).
- Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of networking technology.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task several projects.
- Excellent human relations and communications skills.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Use of personal vehicle for travel to various sites is required/expected.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions:
- Walks the majority of the workday as well as stands, sits, lifts, bends, and reaches above shoulders throughout the day.
