Job Summary :

To provide highest quality health care services in a professional and Resonance Imagining (MRI) and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures.
  2. a. Corroborates patient’s clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  3. b. Prepares patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  4. c. Selects and operates Magnetic Resonance Imager, equipment and accessories, and determines factors for scanning parameters.
  5. d. Selects appropriate program for the desired protocol as specified by the Radiologist.
  6. e. Immobilizes patient as required for appropriate examination.
  7. f. Applies principles of magnet related protection to minimize hazards to patient, self, and others.
  8. g. Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  9. h. Verifies documentation for and assists a licensed physician practitioner with procedures.
  10. i. Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.

This position may include the requirement to participate in on-call duties in order to provide technical support during hours other than the regularly scheduled shifts. Hours and days of on-call coverage may vary according to changes in staffing situations and need. Current payroll policies and other hospital and departmental policies will be observed during the on-call and call-in hours.

Education And Experience Required:

  1. 1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be a graduate of an approved School of Radiographic Technology and have the credentials as stated in #IX-Vocational Preparation
  2. 3. Should be an experienced radiographer demonstrating a knowledge base to successfully complete MRI procedures, and maintain additional education in cross sectional anatomy.

2. Computer Experience.

Mandatory Licensure/Certifications:

Staff technologist perform radiography on a Comprehensive Practice Level. Individuals must demonstrate competency to meet state licensure and certification requirements defined by law for whole body radiography and maintain the credential R. T. (R) ARRT, or equivalent.

  1. 1. Be certified by the State of Indiana
  2. 2. Be an R.T.(R) ARRT in good standing
  3. 3. Be ARRT certified as R.T.(MR) at hire or within 2 years of date of hire as an MRI Technologist
