Product Developer

The Role

We are seeking a creative, innovative and meticulous Product Developer to join Jo Mercer on a full-time basis, working from our South Yarra Support Office. Reporting to the Product Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing high quality, on brand and well-engineered product within dedicated timelines to ensure optimal profitability and a relevant range.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve key milestones as per Product Development timeline. This means having all samples signed off and ready for ordering at monthly range reviews.
  • Development in line with category option plans and overall range direction as lead by Product Development Manager.
  • Interpreting sales results with the Product Development Manager to extend the lifecycle of strong performing product for your category base.
  • Sample Management. Includes sample requests, fitting comments, pricing queries & negotiation, sample photographs, pre-production sample sign off, graded fit sample sign off.
  • Supplier Management. Ensuring the supplier base is adhering to JM standard business practice and taking required action as necessary.
  • Ensure all product is engineered to meet Jo Mercer quality standards and margin requirements.
  • Proactively avoid production issues and resolve situations to ensure win-win scenarios
  • Review previous season’s category base performance and maximise development opportunities with the Product Development Manager
  • International trend knowledge
  • Regular visits to domestic market and report findings to Product Development Manager / product team
  • Travel when required overseas
  • In addition to the above, you may be required to assist with other tasks and/or assist other departments depending on the needs of the business

About You

  • Strong demonstrated experience in Product Development
  • Tertiary qualification or similar
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role; experience in footwear is essential
  • Strong/Proven project management and organisational skills
  • Design experience or creative background will be highly regarded
  • A detail orientation with strong planning and analytical skills
  • Practical, positive attitude and adept at problem solving
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build effective and influential relationships
  • A sharp eye for detail and the ability to deliver against deadlines in a fast-paced environment
