Logistics Specialist

Position Summary

The Logistics Specialist supports Guitar Center’s logistics operations by assigning routing for shipments, booking and tracking loads, and resolving transportation issues. This role is responsible for analyzing costs, identifying savings opportunities, and ensuring shipments meet service and delivery requirements. The Logistics Specialist also provides training to team members and vendors on Guitar Center systems and routing guidelines while supporting the overall efficiency of the logistics function.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assign routing to all shipments in the Transportation Management System (TMS) to ensure proper carriers are used and freight arrives on time.
• Build and schedule loads, track shipments, and monitor delivery performance.
• Analyze and identify cost savings opportunities for domestic shipments.
• Compare and evaluate carrier costs to support efficient routing decisions.
• Assist operations teams and vendors in troubleshooting and resolving transportation issues.
• Provide training to vendors and team members on Guitar Center systems and the Guitar Center Enterprise Vendor Routing Guide.
• Cross-train across logistics functions to provide backup support as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education And Experience

• Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in a distribution or logistics environment.
• Ability to calculate and compare carrier costs, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with vendors, carriers, and internal partners.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and efficiency in data entry and reporting.
• Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
