Title: Sr. Coordinator, Engineering Support

Position Summary:

This position supports engineering testing and validation for new and existing military engine development platforms in a laboratory setting or in-field. The focus of this position is on the development of reciprocating diesel and/or gas engine systems.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Prepare, support and perform commissioning of prototype engines/vehicles and early production units together with the customer and sub-contractors for various wheeled and tracked vehicle applications
  • Execute engine validation testing in regard to performance, emissions, sound, vibration, cooling, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair field issues for various engine applications
  • Coordinate with Engine development teams to remedy field issues remotely
  • Perform field inspections of components and author reports to share with development partners
  • Interpret wiring diagrams to diagnose and repair in-field electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot CAN communication systems
  • Provide field support for After Sales and Applications departments whenever complex issues require engineering support
  • Communicate and consult with Engineering and Design departments worldwide
  • Provide support for production and train production staff whenever complex issues require engineering support
  • Maintains an organized record of work hours by job number for budgeting & auditing purposes
  • Promote a safety and compliance culture and live the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct
  • Perform special projects as required

Basic Requirements: 

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
  • Associates degree in Engineering, Diesel or Automotive Technology and 5 years engine field service, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with internal combustion engines; or 9 years of engine field service, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with internal combustion engines
  • Willingness to travel (50%) domestically and internationally and at time on short notice
  • Strong ability to lift, push, and pull weights in the 20-60 lb. range
  • Strong ability to bend down, stand over, lay down and complete work tasks within the tight confines typical of engine compartments and/or engine rooms for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent knowledge of internal combustion engine operations
  • Excellent knowledge of diesel engine troubleshooting and diagnostic analysis
  • Excellent independent problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of engine-specific instrumentation, data acquisition, signal processing and data management
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skills, with a high level of detail and accuracy
  • Strong knowledge of technical language and engineering terminology
  • Strong knowledge in the practical principles of electronics, physics, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, where problems are complex
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of MTU engine products, policies and procedures
