Physical Therapy Aide- Belmont, NC
Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Technician (PT Tech) supports physical therapists and physical therapy assistants in providing treatment to patients recovering from injuries, illnesses, or surgeries. The PT Tech is responsible for preparing equipment, assisting with patient exercises, and ensuring a clean and safe therapy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Aid front desk with answering calls and scheduling patients
- Supports physical therapy care delivery by preparing treatment area, patient, equipment, and materials, and performs procedures under the supervision of a physical therapist or physical therapy assistant
- Prepares treatment area for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols
- Prepares patients for physical therapy treatment by welcoming, comforting, providing and/or assisting patients as needed
- Observe and document patients' progress during therapy sessions and report findings to the PT
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic space to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Transport and position patients as needed, including assisting those with limited mobility
- Maintains physical therapy supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing, and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies, as needed and instructed
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations and clinic policies to keep patient information confidential
- Provides information to patients by answering questions and requests and allaying fears
- Helps treat patients by applying hot or cold packs, helping patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion, tracking walking time and distance, measuring mobility, and performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques
- Educates patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines
- Provides backup to Patient Coordinator as needed, including but not limited to reading a patient chart, answering questions, checking in, answering phones, placing follow up calls, scheduling, checking faxes, calling on referrals, etc
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in a healthcare or physical therapy setting preferred
- Health care worker BLS CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Physically capable of assisting patients and lifting/moving equipment

Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 75 lbs)
- Ability to assist in patient transfers and mobility exercises
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform tasks
