Job Description
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic librarian to join our dedicated team providing information and library services across the Scottish Government.
You will lead the team responsible for day-to-day delivery of enquiry, interlibrary-loan and desk research services. You will also be responsible for producing monthly management information and will have the opportunity to contribute to the library’s extensive programme of training courses and promotional events. You must be able to prioritise tasks effectively, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and work unsupervised
- To support evidence based policy and decision-making through the provision of quality-assured external information and information literacy training.
- Responsibilities
- Supervising the Library Enquiry Service, planning the rota, ensuring targets are met and providing support with more complex enquiries.
- Line management and supervision of rota staff, ensuring outputs are met while balancing workload with wellbeing.
- Delivering library training webinars.
- Creating and reviewing management information dashboards using Power BI.
- Managing the Literature Search service by allocating searches, reviewing outputs, undertaking searches at busier times, reviewing search resources for continued utility and updating search techniques based on new knowledge.
- Assisting with development and implementation of library strategy and communications.
Qualifications
Degree or postgraduate qualification in Library & Information Science OR CILIP Chartered status OR equivalent

Experience
- Experience of managing library service delivery and teams, including compilation and presentation of meaningful management information.
- Experience of delivering online training. Good knowledge of current developments in library and information science.
