We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Director Business Administration (BA) Area North to join our team in Gdańsk. This senior leadership role covers eight countries and oversees a diverse team across multiple locations. You will be responsible for steering all Business Administration functions in the Area, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and local regulations driving financial integrity, and leading process improvements across finance, controlling, facilities, IT, and compliance.

Finance & Accounting

  • Manage Accounts Receivables and Payables according to company guidelines.
  • Oversee Asset Accounting and Working Capital & Liquidity Management.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Act as the primary contact for Corporate Audit, external auditors, banks, and official authorities.
  • Administer contracts between Hapag-Lloyd Polska, HLAG, and third parties.

Controlling

  • Provide advisory support and reporting to Area Management.
  • Lead annual overhead budgeting and interim planning.
  • Manage accrual calculation and postings.
  • Oversee QEM and Sustainability Reporting across Area offices.
  • Supervise monthly Internal Control Checklist reviews and approvals.
  • Produce periodic Risk Management Reports.
  • Prepare accurate KPI reporting (BA KPIs and overarching metrics such as TREX and productivity reporting).

Facility & Office Management

  • Manage office facilities in Poland and Baltic States.
  • Support Country Office Managers in facility-related tasks.
  • Prepare investment budgets and interim plans.
  • Manage landlord relations and cooperate with other counterparts.
  • Ensure IFRS lease reporting to RNE and Corporate.

Information Technology (IT Garage)

  • Provide first-level IT user support.
  • Act as the point of entry for Central IT.
  • Plan and execute hardware exchange programs.

Additional Corporate Roles

  • Area Compliance Officer – jointly with the Managing Director.
  • Tax Compliance Officer – responsible for tax matters in PL, SE, DK, FI, NO, LT, LV, EE.
  • Data Protection Officer – ensure compliance with national data protection laws across Area countries.
  • Area Security Committee Member – act as Area Security Officer in cooperation with MD, HR, ITC, Digital, and Procurement.
  • At least 5 years of management experience in Finance, Accounting, or Controlling, with a proven leadership track record (preferably in shipping or related industries).
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of financial acumen and cost-awareness.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage strategic initiatives and deliver results under pressure.
  • Proficiency in SAP, FIS, Qliksense, VIEW, and MS Office applications is an advantage.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel within the Area and Region.
