RN - Lactation Consultant, Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, Mother Baby Unit. This is a full-time day shift position with work hours from 0700-1930 with a weekend (every other weekend) and holiday rotation.
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Provides lactation support and education to mothers. Develops feeding plans to address the nutritional needs of the infant that may include but is not limited to breastfeeding support, breast pumping support, and supplementation as appropriate. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Key functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty.

Required Qualifications:
- Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire.
- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher within 3 years of hire. Or equivalent educ/experience
- Successful completion of an accredited college level lactation certification program that includes 300 hours or more of precepted clinical lactation experience may be substituted for years of prior experience.
- Upon hire: Oregon Registered Nurse License
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
- 1 year Acute care experience working with the patient population similar to department of hire or completion of the specialty residency located at that facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing upon hire.
- IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants) certification
- 1 year Experience providing lactation care in a Labor and Delivery, Post Partum, or NICU department or in an outpatient mother baby clinical setting.
