Senior Research Assistant (Marine Biodiversity) (25260207)

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Senior Research Assistant to contribute to a marine biodiversity project. This is a one-year, full-time position, commencing as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and project needs.

The successful candidate will be integral to a project employing a combination of traditional (benthic trawling) and novel (environmental DNA) techniques to assess marine ecosystems.

Responsibilities: The Senior Research Assistant will be responsible for implementing key aspects of the marine biodiversity project. Key duties include participating in field trips to conduct benthic trawling and eDNA sampling; identifying and processing collected specimens; and managing, analysing, and summarising the resulting data.

Requirements: Applicants must possess a master of Philosophy (MSc) or PhD degree in a relevant discipline such as Marine Biology, Ecology, or Environmental Science. Essential qualifications include demonstrated, hands-on experience in biodiversity research, including study design, field work, specimen identification, data analysis and report writing. The ideal candidate will be organised, self-motivated, and capable of supervising a small team, and working effectively both independently and as part of a team. A good command of both written and spoken English is required.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
