Position Overview:
The Manager, Photo Studio will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our in-house product photography operations. This role will be critical in coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring that all product shoots are executed seamlessly — from pre-production planning to final asset delivery.
This individual has a strong background in studio production, excellent project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across creative, merchandising, and operational departments. Including managing the shoot calendar, handle logistical planning, and serve as the point of contact between internal stakeholders, photographers, and external vendors.
Key Accountabilities:
Studio Operations & Shoot Management
- Manage daily studio operations, ensuring workflow efficiency and on-time asset delivery.
- Own and manage the in-house photo shoot calendar, scheduling and prioritizing all shoot requests.
- Lead pre-production activities including creative alignment, shot lists, resource planning, and talent coordination.
- Handle all prep, production, and wrap for internal studio shoots, with a focus on product photography.
- Act as liaison between project managers, creatives, in-house photographers, and external vendors to achieve creative goals.
- Partner with Creative Leads and Art Department to secure resources for product shoots.
- Bid and supervise product-led CGI projects (still and motion).
- Support Global Marketing communications video needs (e.g., Townhalls).
- Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Marketing, and Creative teams to ensure product/sample availability and production efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with photographers and stakeholders to facilitate seamless production.
Asset Management & Delivery
- Oversee image file processing workflow and ensure timely delivery to post-production/retouching.
- Track and archive all image assets for accuracy and accessibility.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Manage vendor relationships including equipment rental, freelance photographers, stylists, and third-party contributors.
- Handle invoicing, insurance documentation, and budget tracking for studio-related expenses.
- Create Product Capture guidelines in partnership with Creative and Post-Production for external vendors.
- Build and maintain a preferred vendor list, negotiating bulk rates to optimize costs.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role managing photo studio operations or production management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of photography workflows, including pre-production, shooting, post-production, and asset delivery.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with acute attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interfacing with creatives, project managers, and executives.
- Proficiency with project management and production tools (e.g., Airtable, Asana, Monday.com, Capture One, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
- Familiarity with file management systems and image archiving best practices.
- Experience working with product photography, e-commerce, or fashion/retail a plus.
The hiring range for this position ranges from $122,485 - $172,920. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
