About the role

Mater is seeking a dedicated Inpatient Billing Officer to join the team at our Newstead campus on a full-time, or part-time (0.8 FTE) maximum term contract (11 months). This position offers the chance to play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes that support high-quality patient care, all within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Salary range: $46.96 – $51.73 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all chargeable items are captured and processed accurately in a timely manner. You will:

Coordinate and complete billing documentation to record all relevant charges
Enter CMBS item numbers, prosthesis items, and reconcile billing data
Liaise with practice managers, billing, and supply staff to ensure accuracy
Run reports, perform reconciliations, and support strong working relationships across teams

About you

You will be a detail-oriented professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, committed to delivering outstanding service. To be successful, you will bring:

Extensive knowledge of CMBS numbers and prosthesis items
Experience in health fund billing and/or debtor management
Strong data entry, administrative, and billing/accounting skills
Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills, including handling sensitive financial conversations
A collaborative approach with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
