About Gigs
At Gigs, we're building the operating system for mobile services—a platform that lets tech companies embed global connectivity into their products effortlessly.
Just as Stripe lets any business add a payment button in seconds, Gigs empowers platforms to weave in connectivity—bridging the traditional world of telecom with modern tech. From fintechs launching mobile services to HR platforms offering work phone plans, we automate provisioning and remove telecom complexity.
Our team of around 100 people across the US and Europe, backed by nearly $100 million in funding from Ribbit Capital, Google, and Y Combinator. As one of the fastest-growing tech companies, bringing together early-stage engineers, product builders, and business athletes from companies like Stripe, Airbnb, and Shopify. We’re tackling deep technical and regulatory challenges to make connectivity truly seamless.
If you’re driven by curiosity, creativity, and the chance to shape the future of telecom, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
As Financial Control Lead you will play a key role in ensuring that any decisions we make are backed by rock-solid financial data.
This role is pivotal in driving operational efficiency and accuracy across our financial operations. You will own and safeguard our accounting records, ensuring full compliance with local accounting standards and regulations. You’ll be the go-to expert for accuracy, integrity, and timeliness across all our financial reporting. With a strong eye for detail, you’ll oversee month-end closes, reconciliations, and statutory filings. You’ll partner closely with auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to keep everything audit-ready and watertight. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on accountability and precision.
As Financial Control Lead you’ll be part of a lean finance team consisting of the Head of Finance, A Strategic Finance Manager and a Financial Systems Analyst. This truly presents a unique opportunity to lead and scale our accounting and financial control activities as we build for scale and continue our global expansion.
What You’Ll Do
- Implement relevant technical accounting standards into day-to-day finance operations (main focus on ASC 606 / IFRS 15, in the future ASC 716 / IFRS 2)
- Own the accounting and improve month-end-close process.
- Take our accounting in-house by leveraging AI-powered tools to automate routine processes and free up our team for higher-value financial work.
- Design an internal control system to prevent fraud and errors to ensure a future proof accounting system.
- Own the internal transfer pricing policy and ensure correct at arm’s remuneration of all group entities in accordance with the policy.
- Ensure global compliance with relevant statutory and tax obligations, with the assistance of third party service providers where necessary (e.g., corporate income tax, VAT filings and payroll taxes).
- Prepare all management reporting (entire record-to-report cycle)
- Support preparing forecasts and financial models for management decisions.
What We Are Looking For
- Someone who knows what it takes to build a finance function from the ground up. Brings a can-do mentality to work every day and deal with a dynamic environment in which priorities can shift on a weekly, if not daily basis. This role requires you to go above and beyond.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of work experience in the field of financial control / accounting or audit. Having been part of, or having lead, an in-house financial control team will give you an edge.
- Proven track record in reducing closing timelines to a 3-4 day time window (we will aim for day 0 at Gigs).
- A combination of strong operational accounting skill set with in-depth knowledge on technical accounting topics such as revenue recognition and share based compensation accounting (preferably under US GAAP)
- A storyteller that can contextualize numbers to drive relevant follow up actions.
- Tech savvy with a clear vision and strategy on how to best leverage AI in a rapidly changing finance landscape.
- You are based in Amsterdam, Berlin or London and are willing to work in the office for the majority of the time.
Before You Apply...
The truth is, what we're building isn't easy. We expect a lot, and operate with urgency and ownership. This won’t be the right place for everyone, and that’s okay.
This role probably isn't a fit if:
- You need a lot of structure, or layers of process to do your best work
- You prefer to specialize narrowly and wait for direction rather than taking initiative
- You’re uncomfortable making decisions with imperfect information or wearing multiple hats
- You’re looking for a “big company” setup — we’re still building many things for the first time
But if you’re excited by the idea of building from zero, working with passion, and leaving your mark on something that matters — we’d love to meet you.
