Job Introduction
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Audience Producer to join our team. This is a full-time, junior role best suited to someone with a passion for digital publishing, audience engagement, and data-driven decision making.
You’ll primarily work weekday hours (10am – 7pm), with a requirement to work on average one early and one late shift a week, and some weekends.
This role is central to how we connect our journalism with readers. You’ll be responsible for curating and distributing content across key channels, with a sharp instinct for what engages digital audiences. You'll think like a reader - selecting, framing, and promoting stories in ways that resonate with The i Paper’s audiences on the homepage, in our newsletters and on social media.
You’ll collaborate closely with editors, reporters, and other audience specialists, contributing to a growing, digitally savvy newsroom.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the planning, publishing, and optimisation of content across platforms to maximise reach and engagement.
- Production of key newsletters in The i Paper portfolio, including building, editing, workshopping subject lines and sending. Use of Sailthru for building newsletters and Glueletter for tracking performance.
- Schedule stories on The i Paper’s social channels and design eye-catching graphics to go alongside the posts
- Support the social video team’s efforts in distributing content across our social platforms, and contribute ideas for engaging content for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
- Work with the Homepage Editor and Deputy Head of Audience (Curation) to plan splash rollouts and homepage lineup.
- Support curation strategy on The i Paper’s homepage, app and section pages
- Write and send browser and app push notifications.
- Use long-term and real-time analytics to optimise placement of stories on the homepage.
- Attend news conferences to feed back on analytics and deliver homepage splash plans.
- Monitor audience behaviour in real time and adapt content strategies accordingly.
- Use data and insights to inform decision making and recommend content approaches.
- Collaborate with editorial and social teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in output.
- Using a data-informed approach to pitch stories to third-party news aggregators.
Person Specification
- Strong interest in digital media, audience engagement, and publishing.
- Ability to interpret and apply data and insights to guide content decisions.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear communicator, comfortable working with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.
- An understanding of social media platforms. Experience creating and scheduling content is a plus.
- Previous experience in media, publishing, or audience engagement is a plus, but not essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape how The i Paper connects with readers and drives engagement through smart, strategic publishing.
