In This Role, You'Ll:

Develop and deliver 10-year asset management plans and full life cycle forecasts for renewals, upgrades, and capital works for Sydney Trains’ metropolitan and inter-city electrical network including: electrical distribution, traction power, telecommunications and supporting systems such as fire safety systems and subsystem distribution.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across engineering, design, and operations to facilitate quarterly internal Asset Strategy Councils and external Joint Planning Committees. You'll prepare agendas, present updates and ensure collaborative decision-making. You'll also participate in and may be called to facilitate other related activities such as Fire Life Safety Forums.

Conduct site visits across the network to assess asset conditions, identify issues, discuss solutions and rectification work. You'll translate insights into comprehensive asset management plans for renewals, upgrades, and capital works, and present these strategies to stakeholders for endorsement and implementation.

This is a permanent, fulltime role located at Burwood with flexible working options available under our hybrid working model. The salary is RC7 ($167,229 - $183,993) plus super. You'll be required attend site visits on fortnightly basis at various locations across the network from Sydney to Newcastle to Lithgow to Kiama, many of these sites are not accessible by public transport and as such you’ll need to be able to drive a Sydney Trains vehicle 4x4 utility and take passengers and then walk to and around the locations to carry out the inspections.

About You

Hold a qualification, recognised as a Professional Engineer by Engineers Australia, in Electrical Engineering from an Australian IEEE accredited university course or other certified as equivalent by TfNSW, OR hold an advanced tertiary Electrical Engineering qualification and a Masters degree in a field directly related to the role.

Demonstrated experience in electrical distribution, high voltage systems and associated telecommunications, ideally in rail, mining or utilities environments. Your understanding of how Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs) operate helps you navigate complex infrastructure and stakeholder relationships.

Experienced in conducting asset condition assessments, including inspection, analysis, and forecasting and you've been involved in asset management, maintenance planning, or infrastructure delivery, covering design, installation, and commissioning.

Hold a current 'NSW Licence Class C' motor vehicle licence.
