The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow in Microbiology and Delivery Systems. The successful candidate will investigate microbial mechanisms and develop innovative delivery platforms for applications in aquaculture health and therapeutic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct microbiological research on host–microbe interactions relevant to aquaculture health and/or therapeutic delivery.
  • Develop, optimize, and evaluate delivery platforms (e.g., nanoparticles, encapsulation, oral delivery systems, or biofilm-based approaches).
  • Design and perform in vitro and in vivo experiments to assess microbial response, delivery efficiency, and safety.
  • Collaborate with immunologists, materials scientists, and engineers to integrate microbiology with delivery technologies.
  • Publish high-quality research findings in reputable journals and present at international conferences.
  • Support grant writing, project reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Mentor graduate students and research staff in microbiological and delivery system methodologies.
  • Maintain laboratory standards, including microbial culture facilities, biosafety compliance, and delivery system prototyping.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong expertise in microbiology, including microbial culture, pathogen handling, and molecular characterization techniques.
  • Research experience in drug/vaccine delivery systems (e.g., nanocarriers, polymeric systems, encapsulation, oral/mucosal delivery).
  • Familiarity with host–microbe interactions, infection models, or microbiome analysis is advantageous.
  • Proven record of publications in microbiology, biotechnology, or related applied sciences.
  • Proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques (e.g., microbial culture, imaging, molecular biology, and materials characterization).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and adaptability in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience in collaborative projects, industry partnerships, or translational research is desirable.

We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
