About The Team / Role

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of WEX’s European Mobility business during a pivotal period of transformation and growth. As we reimagine how we serve evolving fleet and mobility needs, you’ll be at the center of it all, steering strategy, driving clarity, and helping teams deliver with focus and urgency.

As Strategy & Planning Lead, you’ll be the GM’s right hand and a core member of the leadership team. Part strategist, part operator, part orchestrator, you'll bring direction, discipline, and momentum to our most critical priorities. You’ll lead our growth strategy, support critical problem solving, and create the structure and momentum needed to execute at speed. You’ll love this role if you enjoy crafting big-picture strategies just as much as helping teams turn them into clear, actionable plans and staying accountable to results.

You’ll also work closely with the Head of International Product, helping to shape our product strategy and ensure strong alignment between European and country specific commercial and product strategy. This is a highly cross-functional role with influence across sales, product, finance, marketing, and operations.

Success in this role requires someone who brings a pan-European perspective, ideally with experience in both UK and continental markets, and who thrives in complex, multi-country environments. How You’ll Make An Impact

• Shape the business’s growth path by leading high-priority strategic projects such as country-level expansion plays, competition and market scans, or competitive assessments across Europe

• Link commercial and product strategy to define the European product vision—clarifying which open- and closed-loop card products, along with associated value-added services (VAS), we’ll prioritize in which markets—to ensure tight alignment between product roadmaps and go-to-market plans.

• Bring strategic clarity and focus to the leadership team, help define what matters most, align stakeholders, and turn ambition into structured plans

• Lead the execution of our operating model, ensuring that top priorities are translated into clear workstreams with ownership, milestones, and momentum

• Partner with cross-functional leaders to draft and refine strategic plans, drive accountability, and track performance across geographies and teams

• Manage business planning rhythms, including quarterly and monthly business and operational reviews, annual planning, KPI tracking, and initiative health checks

• Act as a connective force across sales, marketing, product, finance, operations, and commercial teams, helping surface dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs early

• Create crisp, executive-ready narratives and materials that communicate strategy, progress, and impact to senior stakeholders and the board

• Serve as a trusted right hand to the GM, providing thought partnership, organizational clarity, and proactive leadership support across the region

Experience You’ll Bring

• A strategic mindset with a builder’s heart; you see the big picture, ask the right questions, and turn ideas into action

• Experience in consulting, corporate strategy, or business operations where you've tackled ambiguity and driven impact without waiting for perfect conditions

• An MBA or equivalent background that reflects structured thinking, commercial instincts, and a drive to help businesses grow

• The ability to roll up your sleeves and help teams translate big goals into actionable, well-structured strategic plans

• A strong sense of accountability; you help teams stay focused, track progress, surface risks, and deliver what matters

• Cross-functional influencing skills that enable you to align diverse stakeholders and move work forward, even without direct authority

• Executive storytelling that connects strategy to outcomes; your communication builds clarity and confidence in the path ahead

• Energy for both strategy and execution; you’re just as comfortable facilitating a planning session as you are driving progress review cadences

• A calm, grounded presence with low ego, high ownership, and a bias toward outcomes over process
