Staff Engineer - Data & AI

Role Summary

We are searching for a Staff Engineer who will enable collaboration across our data and AI ecosystem. This role is central to uniting data engineering, business intelligence, marketing and trading data science, and data services teams. The successful candidate will champion cost-efficiency, advance AI maturity within business units, and establish scalable governance frameworks using Azure Purview.

Key Responsibilities

AI Enablement & Productivity

• Lead the creation and deployment of internal AI agents to automate processes in IT, HR, Finance, and Marketing—examples include helpdesk bots, policy query agents, and approval workflows.
• Promote the Agentic AI Framework, making it possible for business units to independently integrate AI using standardized templates and licenses.
• Monitor and report on key AI adoption metrics including rates of task automation, number of agent deployments, and monthly active users.

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Assist satellite data teams in streamlining workflows and minimizing operational costs.
• Act as a technical lead for embedded AI champions, offering guidance on use case development and execution.
• Data Governance & Security
• Implement and oversee Azure Purview for automated data discovery, classification, sensitivity labeling, and lineage tracking.
• Work alongside the Information Security team to define and enforce governance policies and ethical AI standards.
• Integrate data lifecycle checkpoints into PDLC and architecture forums to ensure traceability and compliance.

Culture & Literacy

• Drive organisational data literacy through initiatives such as Show & Tell sessions, AI Hack Days, and GPT Office Hours.
• Encourage the adoption of analytics as an essential part of the development lifecycle.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in data engineering, AI/ML enablement, or platform architecture.
• Sound knowledge of Azure Purview, MLOps, and enterprise data governance.
• Outstanding skills in stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership.
• A passion for promoting operational efficiency and empowering teams through automation.
