About the Position:
Reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the financial actions of the organization; they perform effective risk management and plan the organization’s financial strategy. They oversee all divisional fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, operating costs and auditing. This role will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory documents and ensure that filings are completed by each divisional financial unit.

- Work with the leadership team to develop and execute corporate strategy and business plans to ensure that the company attains its short and long-term growth objectives.
- Manage the company’s assets and liabilities.
- Provide oversight over the financial performance of the operating entities, including the income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
- Develop financial organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives
- Set strategic financial goals and ensure the goals are measurable; and
- Maintain awareness of the competitive market landscape, expansion opportunities, and industry developments in real estate, construction and health care facility sectors.
- Work closely with shareholders and executive leadership team to identify and assess new growth opportunities, both organic and through external business ventures.
- Manage the banking relationship and ensure reporting compliance with financial institutions.
- Act as one of the primary points of contact for all financial stakeholders, including banks and auditors and external investors
- Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company.
- Allocate company funds accordingly to ensure each department can function at the desired level and to promote maximum ROE.
- Lead corporate governance best practices and make suggestions on corporate governance practices that meet the long-term objectives of the key stakeholders
- Other related accounting and financial responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Post-graduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related is desired.
- Eight (8) or more years of executive management experience as a financial leader in a medium-to-large organization, with proven or demonstrated leadership abilities is required.
- Experience working in the real estate or construction industry and/or healthcare industry would be an asset.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles is required.
- Understanding of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation requirements preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting and finance software such as Dynamics365, Sage, CaseWare, Concur, etc.
- Excellent understanding of Canadian tax laws and regulatory requirements including GST, payroll taxes and construction specific tax issues.
- A valid class five (5) driver’s license is required.
- A clean drivers abstract is required for the operation of company vehicles on public roadways.
- Comprehensive Background Check to the company’s satisfaction is required.
