The Role

The Senior Financial Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, managing critical accounting functions, and supporting business operations. This role requires a high level of technical accounting expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to foster strong relationships across the organisation. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working collaboratively to support Oroton’s financial and business goals.

This is a full-time, 12-month contract position based at our Chippendale Support Office. Starting from late October or early November.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively involved in year-end audit and assist in preparing statutory accounts for other entities as required ( NZ, SG, MY, HK)
• Own the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
• Take responsibility for account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Manage and monitor daily cash flow to ensure optimal liquidity
• Oversee inventory control processes, actively participate in year-end store and warehouse stock takes, and prepare related reports.
• Maintain and track capital expenditures, ensuring proper approval and documentation
• Coordinate and manage insurance renewals to ensure compliance and coverage
• Manage payroll tax obligations, WorkCover, and prepare monthly payroll journal entries
• Collaborate with internal teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with Commercial Manager, Retail Operations, Supply chain , Finance, and IT departments to optimise performance and business outcomes
• Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Financial Controller (FC) and Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCF) from time to time
• Provide high levels of support to fellow team members, fostering communication, efficiency, and productivity
• Share knowledge and participate actively in weekly meetings to drive continuous improvement
• Assist in resolving technical accounting questions and challenges within the team

What We Are Looking For:

• Relevant accounting degree and professional qualification (CPA/ACA)
• Experience preparing consolidated financial reports for ASX-listed companies
• Proven commercial accounting experience, ideally in the retail sector
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical mindset
• Proficient IT skills and familiarity with accounting systems and processes
• Excellent communication skills to interact with all business levels
