Senior Underwriter – Retail Property (Hybrid, Northeast Region)
Everest Insurance, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd., is looking for you to join our Retail Property team as a Senior Underwriter. In this hybrid role, you’ll work three days in-office and two remotely, reporting to the Northeast Regional Executive of Retail Property.
What You’Ll Do
In This Role, You Will:
- Help develop a profitable book of business within the Northeast territory.
- Assist in implementing a regional growth plan and build brand awareness for Everest.
- Set goals and objectives for both the team and the region.
- Build and underwrite a diverse and profitable portfolio of retail property accounts.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with appointed brokers.
- Establish and manage pricing and risk selection standards that align with strategic and financial goals.
- Collaborate with Actuarial, Claims, Loss Control, Operations, Finance, and IT teams.
- Mentor and coach underwriters, both technically and professionally.
- Stay informed about competitor strategies and market trends.

What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (insurance designations are a plus).
- 3 to 7 years of commercial property underwriting experience, with proven ability to support leadership strategies for portfolio profitability.
- A self-motivated and independent mindset, with strong underwriting discipline.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong relationship-building and coaching abilities.
- The ability to assess risk exposures and natural hazards.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret risk and portfolio data.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills.

The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $160,100 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
