Partners Community Health (PCH) is a new not-for-profit organization, focused on bringing healthcare services together around the needs of people living in Mississauga and West Toronto. PCH currently operates two new state-of the-art LTC homes and community hub in West Mississauga. The new homes have a combined 632-beds and be part of PCH’s larger strategy that introduce innovative and inclusive programs and services and new models of care delivery. Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Recreation Aide to join our team. In this role, you will support the development and delivery of recreational and social programs that enhance the quality of life, engagement, and well-being of our residents. Working under the guidance of the Team Leader, the Recreation Aide will assist with setting up activities, encouraging resident participation, supporting new resident orientation, and promoting a socially engaging environment. Responsibilities also include maintaining program and resident records and contributing to continuous improvements in programming and services.

This position is ideal for someone who has experience working with seniors, understands leisure and motivation principles, and brings strong communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participating in the development and revision of departmental procedures and programs under the guidance of the Team Leader.
• Setting up the activity area as necessary and assisting in transporting residents to and from programs, if required.
• Assisting in monitoring the residents’ interests, needs, and progress.
• Maintaining program and resident records according to departmental policies. Regularly reporting participation and feedback by residents to the Team Lader.
• Promoting social interaction among residents by assuming leadership of assigned activities or special events, assisting new residents with orientation to the building and to the recreation program, and promoting conversation and social interaction among residents.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or certification in recreation/leisure studies or equivalent
• Experience working with seniors, including an understanding of motivation concepts with seniors
• Understanding of leisure principles
• Computer proficiency
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
