Job Description

The Project & Opportunity
Prospect Pre-Treatment Plant is a vital infrastructure project aimed at safeguarding Sydney’s water supply. The facility will ensure that residents across the city continue to receive safe, secure, and reliable drinking water, especially during periods of compromised water quality caused by storms, droughts, or bushfires.

To support the successful delivery of this project, we are seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Civil to join our delivery team. This position is suited to an experienced engineer ready to take ownership of complex civil works and lead project teams through to successful completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of designated civil works packages, ensuring delivery in line with time, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Oversee planning and coordination of resources, materials, and construction methodologies, driving best-practice outcomes on site.
• Provide technical guidance and problem-solving expertise to resolve engineering challenges efficiently.
• Lead, mentor, and develop site engineers, graduates, and undergraduate engineers, building capability within the project team.
• Manage subcontractor performance across larger and more complex scopes, including financial control, progress tracking, and variation management.
• Prepare and review project documentation including quality records, safety reports, environmental compliance, and progress claims.
• Liaise effectively with the client, consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives and delivery standards.
• Contribute to forecasting, program reviews, and reporting to senior management on project performance.
• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to HSE requirements across all site activities.
• Required Skills and Competencies
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in a Senior Project Engineer or advanced Project Engineer role on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and site teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing subcontractor packages and cost tracking.
• Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage complex site issues under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
• High attention to detail, coupled with a proactive approach to risk management and project delivery.
• Current Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Previous experience on water infrastructure projects (highly desirable).
