About This Opportunity  

The School of Social Science is seeking a motivated and experienced professional to provide operational leadership and administrative management for student and academic services. This position plays a key role in ensuring effective delivery of teaching, learning, and student support functions while contributing to the School's operational and strategic goals. Key responsibilities will include: 

  • in consultation with the Supervisor, Student and Academic Administration, provide day-to-day guidance and training to the Student and Academic Administration team to ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance with UQ policies.
  • Coordinate the School’s teaching timetable and class enrolment processes, including input into the central timetabling system.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders to support collaborative solutions for administrative matters such as timetabling, student events, and examinations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of academic administration processes, including program rules and procedural updates.
  • Support governance by coordinating School committees, including documentation and action tracking.
  • Oversee student communications and engagement activities, ensuring accurate content across platforms and successful delivery of key events.
  • Support the coordination of student engagement events (e.g., Orientation, Honours Information Sessions) by collaborating with Faculty and School staff, and serving as the School’s primary representative to ensure seamless event delivery and positive student experiences.

About You

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree with subsequent relevant experience in academic and student administration.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality service and advice to students and staff, with empathy and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential matters and applying sound judgement and discretion.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly acquire skills in new applications.
  • Experience using University systems, such as SI-net (student administration system), Syllabus Plus (timetabling system), UniTask, CRM and Reportal (Business Objects) would be an advantage.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, AHPRA registration, mandatory immunisations, first aid and/or CPR certification, blue card check, etc.
