EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience. Five (5) years of clinical Imaging experience.
- Three (3) years of imaging leadership experience
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Must hold a current registry from one of the below organizations:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
- American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
- Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
- American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- If holding a registration through ARRT or NMTCB must also hold a Texas Medical Board license as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) Preferred
JOB SUMMARY:
The Imaging Services Manager is an experienced imaging manager with operational scope over a single imaging modality and multiple imaging locations. Ensures staffing coverage, and collaborates with radiologists, staff, and other managers daily to ensure safe patient care and patient access to clinical services.
Manages, coordinates, evaluates, and directs patient care services and all technical and administrative activities in alignment with UTMB Health’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Provides leadership in planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling the daily operational functions of imaging services. Performs duties in support of and in compliance with the performance improvement plan, ACR, TJC, and other licensing, accrediting, and regulatory agencies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assigns staff and workload requirements regarding changing priorities in daily operations.
- Interacts and communicates with physicians, support staff, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate departmental operations.
- Monitors the status of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gathers data on equipment malfunction and associated downtime, and documents the effect on patient care.
- Disseminates and assures compliance with department and institutional policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Provides practical instruction for students and other health care professionals.
- Evaluates staff, provides counsel, monitors performance, directs orientation, provides guidance, and constructively influences staff morale.
- Gathers data and participates in the department’s quality assurance and improvement plan to achieve a defined level of quality and appropriateness of patient care services.
- Controls inventory, cares for, and purchases supplies regarding areas of responsibility.
- Applies the profession’s code of ethics in all aspects of practice
- Continuously monitors staffing levels and adjusts as appropriate to meet various clinical care and financial objectives.
- Assures staff is trained and competent and documents the effects on patient care.
- Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care.
- Addresses and responds to concerns or grievances by physicians, staff and patients.
- Works with projects to a timely resolution and completes assignments according to agreed deadlines
- Monitors revenue and expense budgets on an on-going basis and takes appropriate action to ensure practice is within budget guidelines
- Maintains the ability to perform procedures in the discipline for which they supervise to include assessment of patient needs (see attached age-specific addendum).
