TITLE
Dental Hygiene Clinic Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Dental Hygiene Clinic Manager performs responsible administrative duties in the operation of the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Responsibilities include management of clinic operations including ordering materials and supplies for daily operation, financial and statistical reporting, completion of adjunct faculty personnel files, completion of surveys, and maintenance of clinic inventory, quality assurance and clinic operational expenses. Exercises independent judgment in completion of tasks. Work is performed under general supervision of the clinic administrator and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Dental Hygiene Program Director, Department Head
Supervises: May supervise Student Assistants
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:
Manages clinical and personnel functions within the Dental Hygiene Clinic.
Manages clinical budget under the direction of the Dental Hygiene Program Director.
Assists individual staff with the management of clinical operations.
Manages all clinical purchasing, clinical events, and expenses for clinic operations.
Maintains capital equipment inventory and quality assurance measures.
Manages cash, cash-related receipts, accounts receivable and credit and collection functions.
Ensures timely processing of billings, payments, and collection of revenue from clinical operations.
Assists in development and interpretation of policies and procedures for clinical related functions.
Manages the clinic purchasing card and reconciliations.
Reviews and manages clinical contracts through clinic operations.
Oversees the security and management of faculty records, quality assurance data, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Performs technical clerical work involving the exercise of independent judgment.
Maintains a variety of complex and/or confidential records and files.
Prepares annual radiation safety and quality assurance forms, periodic reports, events and/or office schedules.
Prepares, sterilizes, and stores instruments and appropriate supplies.
Stocks dental operatory and supply stations as appropriate or requested by faculty.
Dispenses instruments, equipment, and supplies to students or faculty as needed.
Verifies and maintains currency of emergency medications, AED, first aid kits, emergency oxygen, and fire extinguishers.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Assists Dental Hygiene Program Director with special events.
Performs other duties as requested.
EDUCATION
Registered Dental Assistant and high school diploma or equivalent required. Some college course work preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Eight years of progressively responsible clinical experience in a dental office, preferably including experience as an office manager. Additional job-related education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
REQUIREMENT
Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:
Knowledge of modern dental practices.
Working knowledge of CDC in the dental practice, HIPAA and OSHA principles and procedures.
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies, procedures and activities.
Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of safe and appropriate clinical procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.
Knowledge of clinical management methods and ability to provide administrative guidance and provide direct training and supervision to clinical staff as needed.
Ability to apply clinical fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively - orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
Ability to work in a clinical setting.
Ability to distinguish the standards of clinical care by using research, and personal experience.
Knowledge of State of Texas Radiography Compliance.
Working knowledge of dental office practices and methods.
Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.
