Sun Valley Co-op is currently looking for an individual to join our team at the Altona Gas Bar location in Altona, MB in the part-time position of Barista.

What You'Ll Do:

• To come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude.
• To provide outstanding courteous customer service at all times.
• Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers, engaging in friendly conversations, etc.
• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages according to standard recipes.
• Prepare food from our menu according to standard recipes.
• Operate coffee-making equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and blenders.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including coffee bar, equipment, and washing dishes.
• Process payments and manage cash register transactions accurately.
• To ensure that the departments receiving and handling of merchandise meets all Sun Valley Co-op’s policies, procedures and standards. 
• To ensure that the Co-operative’s equipment is being operated and maintained in a safe and responsible manner. 
• To be responsible in the area of loss prevention. 
• To conduct “manage by walking around” tours to ensure that the co-operative’s standards are being met and to correct any areas in which the standards are not being met. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

• Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a café or restaurant setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and a passion for coffee culture.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and transactions
